What are Openly Accessible Digital Libraries (OADL)

Page history last edited by Sukhdev Singh 17 years, 2 months ago

Digital Libraries are collection of digital objects, which can be accessed in a user-friendly manner by its members. When “open access” is enabled to such digital libraries these become Open Access Digital Libraries. Here open access means online access free of charge and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. The present Internet technologies coupled with consent of the copyright holders make such an access possible. However this does not mean that all content which is available on net for free qualifies as Open Access Literature. Only peer-reviewed scholarly literature can become Open Access Literature and can become the ingredient of any Open Access Library.
